Injection Molding Machine

Velocity Transducers Control Feed Rate

A prominent machine builder from Japan uses several models from our Series 100 Linear Velocity Transducer line for feedback on their injection molding machines. These systems are used worldwide, producing nearly 50 percent of all music CDs, CD-ROMs & DVD disks.

The item they install the most is the Model 0113-0001 with its 3.0 inch working range. Typical setup involves mounting the LVT on the hydraulic ram, with the coils fixed and the core magnet moving with the ram head.

As molten plastic flows into a mold, the injection – or feed – rate is an important parameter to monitor to ensure optimal efficiency and a quality final product. Injection molding machines are usually specified as having a standard and maximum injection rate. The self-generated, DC voltage output direct from our LVT allows for accurate monitoring of this feed rate.

Next time you play your favorite CD, keep in mind we may have helped create that wonderful sound.
