Gaging LVDTs
LVDT stands for Linear Variable Differential Transformer. An LVDT is also referred to as a linear displacement transducer, or linear position transducer. This sensor device measures linear displacement (or linear position) very accurately. LVDTs can come in two physical configurations: free-unguided core or spring-loaded (gaging), as described below.
Using LVDT technology, Trans-Tek manufacturers three different lines of Gaging Transducers capable of measuring up to 20 inches. Gaging transducers are often selected over free-unguided LVDTs when a hard connection cannot be made to the moving object. All units consist of a spring-loaded shaft guided through a phosphorous bronze-leaded bearing. A hardened steel contact tip touches the object to be measured.
